1. Meet the conditions to be a MEI

- Annual profit cannot exceed R$1,04,810,000;
- The business must fit into one of the activities permitted for MEI, of which there are more than 400.
2. Register with Gov.br
The second step in how to open a MEI is to have an account on Gov.br. After all, within the Entrepreneur Portal, which is where you register, in the “Formalize” section there will be the Gov.br option for login.

3. Complete your registration
On the Entrepreneur Portal, complete your registration information to obtain your CNPJ. When you click on “Formalize”, you must authorize the portal to access your registration on Gov.br.
When registering, provide your income tax return number, if applicable. Also, fill in your voter registration and contact details. You will receive an SMS with a registration validation code.
4. Enter your MEI's trade name and activity
Now it's time to define your company's trade name. After all, the main name is yours along with your CPF. So, define a name to promote your company.

5. Set the address

6. Access the Certificate of Individual Microentrepreneur Status – CCMEI
